Day 1: Arrival & Introduction to the Wilderness

• Check-in to your eco-stay amidst the lush greenery of Thekkady.

• Evening nature walk or a leisurely stroll through the nearby spice plantations (optional).

• Orientation about the Tiger Reserve and upcoming activities.

• Overnight stay in eco-lodge/cottage.

Day 2: Choose Your Ecotourism Adventure

Guests can choose one of the following immersive full-day experiences organized by the Forest Department at Periyar Tiger Reserve:

🚣‍♂️ Option 1: Bamboo Rafting Adventure (Half Day )

A dawn-to-dusk program ideal for semi-serious nature lovers, combining forest trekking and bamboo rafting.

• Start Time: 8:00 AM from Boat Landing

• Traverse through mosaic forest habitats rich with birdlife and arboreal mammals like Nilgiri langur and giant squirrels.

• Three-hour bamboo raft ride across the Periyar Lake offers panoramic views of forest-clad hills and possible sightings of elephants, gaurs, and Sambar deer.

• Includes tea, snacks, and packed lunch.

• Accompanied by 4 guides and an armed forest guard (max 10 guests).

• Return by 5:00 PM.

Choose between Thondiyar or Brandipara routes for this challenging, full-day hard trekking program along the rugged border regions of the Reserve.

• Start Time: 8:00 AM from respective trail offices.

• Trek across undulating terrains (900–1300 m elevation) offering breathtaking views of Cumbam Valley, forest escarpments, and hidden wildlife corridors.

• Likely sightings include sloth bears, elephants, gaurs, and a rich variety of birds and butterflies.

• Groups of max 12 tourists, split into two, are led by two guides and an armed forest guard.

• Ends by evening.
